Brief History

Thank you for visiting our website

The Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) was established on the 1st of December 1942.

The RAEME Association of Tasmania (RATS) was formed in 2003 following a number of attempts to establish an association for all of those who have been involved with RAEME in Tasmania.

It was agreed at the inaugural meeting that the RAT Association would be a non-profit organisation and would rely on donations and raffles to fund the association

On a bigger note, RAEME is the second largest Corps in the Australian Army and maintains the greatest variety of equipment of any organisation in Australia. Because of the demands of Army operations, the Corps operates both mobile workshops on the battlefield and static workshops in the support area. The Corps provides the repair and recovery service for all equipment operated by the Army, including aircraft and watercraft.

We encourage any RAEME members both past and present to make contact with us should you ever visit Tasmania (Australia’s best kept secret).
